MVGRS & CGRS Members Art & Betty Gebele honor our members who have died with this memorial. Phil Peterson

I am so sorry to have to begin this New Year by telling you of the passing of a long-time member of MVGRS.

Phil Peterson left us on December 26, 2006.

Phil was a long-time member, but had not attended many meetings in the last year or two. The article in the paper said Phil was 81 years old; I would not have known that he had that many years, because he was so young at heart that you did not think of his age.

Phil was a very kind man, thoughtful and concerned about what you had to say, which made him fun to talk to. He was always interested in aviation history as well as in trains of all sorts. When his knees put limitations on playing with trains, he made changes in his life but never gave up on his interests in both trains and planes. He would call Jack to remind him of an upcoming meeting of the Aviation Historical Society, and even got Jack to do a presentation to this group on his war experiences. (Not easy to get Jack to do that!)

It is so difficult to let go of those people who enhance our lives by their very presence. Phil was our friend, and we will miss him.

Most of all, our hearts and our condolences go out to Virginia, Phil’s wife for 52 years.

Sharon and Jack Wilson (for the MVGRS.)
